Beginners, experienced divers and snorkelers are all welcome at Lady Elliot Island with instruction available and locations suitable for all levels.
The Lagoon area is the ideal location for novice snorkelers, where as experienced divers can travel out to the Lighthouse Bommie, the Blow Hole and Hiro's Cave.
Join one of the friendly activities staff and explore the reef at low tide. Walk out from the beach and through the lagoon to the reef edge and learn about the delicate marine eco system that is the Great Barrier Reef.
Discover the history of Lady Elliot Island when you join a Nature Walk and encounter the remnants of the guano miners, visit the lighthouse and bird rookeries, and learn about the local wildlife.
Each year from November to February sees the return of the Green and Loggerhead Turtles to next on the beaches of Lady Elliot Island and the near by coast.
Visit Lady Elliot Island during February to April and witness these tiny creatures hatching and making their way to the depths of the ocean. Guided spotting is operated and takes place right out the front of the resort.
As part of their annual migration during July to October, the majestic humpback whales pass Lady Elliot Island on route to warmer waters for giving birth and mating.
No need to travel out by boat, simply spot the giant mammals swimming by right from the beach and reef edge.
Join in on one of the regular presentations and slide shows each night which are ideal for the whole family. Please check the activities board for session times.
Most activities are suitable for the whole family however kids from 5 to 12 years can also join in on the Reef Rangers Club which operates during the Queensland School Holidays.
