Fraser
Island
5-day
4WD and Walking Adventure |
| |
|
Explore the worlds
largest sand island in a totally relaxed atmosphere on a 5 Day
Walkabout Adventure. The camping safari departs Brisbane and
guides you through the stunning landscape of the World Heritage
Listed Fraser Island. Each day you not only four wheel drive
through the toughest terrain but you also experience the real
Fraser Island by hiking through the forests and sand dunes,
encountering the area in a unique way.
While on the tour
you have the opportunity to swim in some of the most beautiful
lakes in the world, spend the afternoon fishing in the surf, hike
massive sand dunes or leisurely explore the tropical rainforests
in the heart of the island. |
| |
Day 1
Make your way up the Queensland
coast, past the stunning Glasshouse Mountains and through the
Noosa area to emerge at rainbow Beach. This quiet sea side
town is home to the Cherry Venture Shipwreck at Double Island
Point and the famous Cooloola Coloured Sands.
|
|
|
Refresh your self with a quick swim and lunch before crossing over
to Fraser Island on the Fraser Island barge. From here your
friendly tour guide will take you to Govi Creek and Dilli Beach
where you will set up camp for the night. You have that
afternoon to relax and go for a leisurely stroll along the beach, go
fishing, take a bush walk or just relax. Later that night a
BBQ fish dinner will satisfy your hunger before you retire for the
night. |
Day 2
After your first night on the island you begin
the second day with breakfast before heading off to the worlds
largest perched lake, Lake Boomanjin and then Lake Birrabeen.
Here you have the opportunity to go for a swim and be guided on a
walk through the surrounding bush land.
The magical rainforest of Central
Station and Wanggoolba Creek is your next stop. Allow your
guide to take you through this unique eco system, learn about the
ancient plant life, the thousands of animal species as well as the
past logging industry that utilised the area as a centre of
operations. |
 |
|
From
here continue on to the stunning fresh water Lake McKenzie for
another swim and lunch followed by Lake Wabby before heading back to camp for another tasty dinner. |
|
 |
Day
3
On your
third day, the first stop is the largest fresh water creek on the eastern
coast, Eli Creek. Jump is for a swim, float down the fast flowing waters
or just walk along the board walk. From here the tour moves on to the
Maheno Shipwreck, slowly being eaten away by rust, and being consumed by the
moving sand, then marvel at the coloured sands that are etched in the sand
cliffs. Divert from the coast and head inland through the rainforest to
Lake Allom, the home of the shy, fresh water turtles, then that afternoon
explore Dundubara campsite, hike to Wungal Sandblow or just relax and enjoy
some fishing off the beach before dinner around the campfire. |
| |
|
Day
4
Travel to Indian Head, hike to the
top and spot local marine life in the water below, feeding around
the rocks. Turtles, sharks and stingrays all call the area
home. Head around the point to the Champagne Pools to swim
in the rock pools on the oceans edge, then journey to the northern
parts of Fraser Island such as Waddy Point and Ocean Lake. |
