3 Day Fraser Island Escape - Camping

Allow the friendly and experienced Sunrover guides to take you on an educational exploration of the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island. Discover a myriad of plant and wildlife species living within the diverse eco systems that encompass Fraser Island, as well as the handful of fresh water lakes, towering forests and the ever changing sand blows.

Day 1

Depart Brisbane in the early morning and travel up the Queensland coast to Rainbow Beach, home to the coloured sands and Cherry Venture Shipwreck. If the tides permit the safari will detour through the Cooloola National Park.

Upon arrival at Rainbow Beach you will have an early lunch before crossing over to Fraser Island on board the Fraser Island barge. Travel through the eucalypt forests to magnificent Lake McKenzie, fringed with crisp, white, silica sand and aqua blue waters where you can swim or explore the local area on foot.

After Lake McKenzie you 4WD across the island to the western side and Kingfisher Bay Resort to check into your Wilderness Lodge accommodation.

Day 2

The next day travel over to Lake Wabby to view it's stunning green waters, coloured by the leaf litter and natural oxides found in the surrounding environment.

After your swim, hike over Hammerstone Sandblow and witness the mighty sandblow slowly consuming Lake Wabby below. Drive along the island's highway, Seventy Five Mile Beach before heading in land to Pile Valley, the home to the giant trees that managed to escape the logging industry that once thrived on Fraser Island.

Marvel at the coloured sands splashed across the wind etched cliffs of the Cathedrals on the eastern side of the island before heading down to the fresh waters of Eli Creek for a swim and walk along the boardwalk.

Day 3

On your last day it's time for you to relax at the eco resort Kingfisher Bay Resort. Chill out by the resort pool or heated spa and sip on a chilled cocktail. Go on a nature walk around the local area and learn about bush tucker, native plant life and wildlife.

Take advantage of the resort facilities and do a bit of shopping, relax at the cafe or get a massage at the beauty salon. Throw in a line off the jetty out the front of the resort, go bird watching, sailing or during whale watching season go on a half day whale watching cruise to view the magical humpback whales.

That afternoon you have the option of returning with the tour bus down the coast, via Noosa and back to Brisbane, or you can transfer on the catamaran to Hervey Bay if you wish to continue your holiday from there.
