Central Station provides of a picnic area with a scenic boardwalk through the rain forest along the banks of the Wanggoolba Creek, and camping facilities. This is a very popular destination as it is the first stop for the day tours arriving at Wanggoolba Creek. The information centre shows some of the history of the island when it was logged, as well as flora, fauna and animals which live on Fraser Island. 

Central Station has plantations of a variety of pine tress to which give the camping ground much of its appeal and makes the ideal camping site during the holiday season.

Massive Satinay Trees can be found  in the upper catchment area of Wanggoolba Creek amid palms and rainforest. The trees are regarded as one of Fraser Island's biological marvels as the sand they grow in has almost no natural mineral fertility.
