The majestic humpback whale, one of the most revered animals on Earth, annually migrates north during the winter months of the Southern Hemisphere in search of warmer waters. The sheltered bay between World Heritage Fraser Island and the sea side city of Hervey Bay has become the playground for these mammals, spending time to play with their young in the warm Queensland waters.
Join the new, luxury Quick Cat II for a close encounter with these magnificent creatures during whale watching season, from August through to October each year. Quick Cat II is a state of the art, purpose built vessel will cruise you out on the Bay, taking advantage of the exclusive spotter air craft to advise exactly where the whales are located for the day.
Amphitheater seating in the bow and curved rear decks suspended out over the water's edge allow you the best possible panoramic views of the whales environment, and taking a maximum of only eighty passengers, Quick Cat II also guarantees no over crowded decks. The new vessel includes wheel chair access to all of the main deck, and also caters for children with free children's activity booklets with games as well as information suitable for school projects, and for smaller children there is pram access right around the main deck area.
Other special features on the Quick Cat II are the under viewing camera and the hydrophone, continuously feeding video footage to the main decks and echoing the whales sonar throughout the boat so you can fully experience the whales activity above and below the surface. The vessel is also fully licensed, so enjoy a cold beer with your morning or afternoon tea, sit back and watch the humpbacks spy hop right beside the deck, glide under the boat playfully, and teach their calves to breech in the distance. Quick Cat II will cruise you out in comfort and style for an awe inspiring Whale Watching experience of a life time.
Quick Cat II departs twice a day from August to October. Passengers have the choice of experiencing a morning out on the bay or spending the afternoon with the whales.
